Bronx River Alliance < Bronx > < Free >

This environmental organization in Starlight park offers green community events, some of which are Science related—for instance, they had a “Winter Mushroom ID Walk” in January that we loved. If you are interested in conservation, gardening, or outdoor volunteering, here’s the place to look.

Secret Science club < Brooklyn > < Free > < Paid >

“Mind-bending lectures” hosted both in-person and online! Grab a beer at this casual venue (21+) and enjoy a nerdy/cool talk on astrophysics, unusual animals, or the universe.

Simons Foundation < Manhattan > < Free >

Interesting and varied lectures and panel discussions on science, culture and society, often touching on art, philosophy, and food. For instance, we went to one where a biophysicist and food historian+archaeologist discussed the sensory and cultural impact of chili peppers! There is usually a reception afterwards where you can have drinks and hors d'oeuvres while mingling with speakers and fellow guests.

Cooper Union < Manhattan > < Free >

In-person lectures and panel discussions at Cooper Union (That's NoHo, right?). While 80% of events seem to be dedicated to art (if you love typography, check out their annual Typographics Festival), several are interdisciplinary and intersect art and science. One such upcoming event (as of April 2024) is the “generative art, design, and machine learning” panel discussion.

We also host fun events, and they are for women only! Our monthly book club, where we read books related to women or STEM fields, is a staple for us, and we also host sporadic events like museum trips, hiking, and walks. Our events are often STEM-related, and they are always fun (our main criterion).
Check out our past events, join our meetup to get notified for our next one. Event Details
